| Port Alberni Tsunami Centre-Museum Progress is being made to create a Tsunami Centre on the Port Alberni waterfront. The Maritime Heritage Society is planning the exhibit in their building on the Lighthouse Pier. Near Harbour Quay. Plans include partnering with Neptune Canada to act as the public outlook for this huge laboratory of the Pacific project. Big screen monitors will be the veritable eyes and ears for the thousands of sensors spread over the Pacific Ocean bed. The science behind tsunamis will be explained. Also of course, the story of the Port Alberni tidal wave (1964) will be told. Plans are for a professionally produced documentary featuring our experience and how the world media spread the news. |
